About the Role:
The Product Business Analyst will be responsible for leading activities related to understanding, defining, and gathering insurance product and process requirements from various stakeholders, including Product Management, Underwriting, Actuarial, Operations, and Compliance. This role involves producing clear and concise product specifications in accordance with Business Architecture standards. The Product Business Analyst will lead product design efforts, working with business teams to organize the insurance product hierarchy and its specifications, such as coverages, coverage terms (limits, deductible, etc.), and availability rules. This includes the analysis and rationalization of our current insurance products to a future product set. The role also involves collaborating with the technology team to translate and map the product definition to the Policy Administration system product model.
Responsibilities
Lead the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of insurance product and process requirements from Product Management, Underwriting, Actuarial, Operations, and Compliance teams.
Develop clear and concise product specifications according to Business Architecture standards.
Lead product design efforts, working with business teams to organize the insurance product hierarchy and its specifications, including coverages, coverage terms, and availability rules.
Analyze and rationalize the current set of insurance products to define a future product set.
Collaborate with the technology team to translate and map the product definition to the Policy Administration system product model.
Ensure strong adherence to business analysis standards and deliver high-quality artifacts.
Utilize advanced analytical skills to translate product business requirements into a detailed product architecture and specifications.
Participate in Agile methodology processes, practices, and artifact creation.
Contribute to large technology implementation efforts.
Influence stakeholders to achieve project goals.
Work effectively in large multi-disciplinary team environments.
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.
6+ years of experience working with complex P&C commercial lines products (e.g., GL, Property, Excess Casualty, Auto, Work Comp)
Strong understanding of ISO, NCCI, state regulatory environments, rating and pricing, and insurance company processes around product development and management.
Demonstrated experience in executing processes supporting business analysis and requirements documentation, with a strong adherence to standards and delivery of high-quality artifacts.
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate product business requirements into a detailed product architecture and specifications.
Experience with Agile methodology processes, practices, and artifacts.
Demonstrated experience in technology and large technology implementation efforts.
Strong ability to lead through influence.
Demonstrated experience working in large multi-disciplinary team environments.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Experience with commercial Policy Administration Systems (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek, Policy Decisions).
