Job Description

The Quality Excellence leader is accountable for developing, improving and maintaining the strategic quality tools and deployment materials including Quality training and competence, the Quality Excellence Framework, the Aerospace Policy Management System and leading other key global strategic Quality initiatives to make an impact on GKN Aerospace performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures to ensure product/service excellence
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and testing to verify compliance with internal standards and customer requirements
  • Identify defects or non-conformities, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, engineering, supply chain) to improve processes and product quality
  • Monitor key quality metrics (KPIs) and generate reports to track performance and continuous improvement efforts
  • Lead or support internal and external audits, including ISO or other regulatory standards
  • Analyze data using tools such as statistical process control (SPC) to detect trends and reduce variation
  • Participate in new product development to ensure quality is built into design and processes from the start
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry regulations, and safety standards
  • Support supplier quality management, including audits, evaluations, and improvement initiatives
  • Train team members on quality standards, tools, and best practices
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to enhance efficiency and reduce defects

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role (industry-specific experience is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (FMEA, PPAP, APQP, 8D, SPC, Control Plans)
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 13485, depending on industry)
  • Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, Minitab, or similar)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with teams
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles (certification is a plus)
  • Experience with audits (internal, external, or supplier audits) is preferred
  • English proficiency (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus
