Job Description

Keywords Studios is a global provider of creative and technical services to the video games industry, with over 13,000 professionals across 70+ studios in 25+ countries. We support clients across the entire game lifecycle through three core Service Lines:

  • Create — Game development, art production, and audio

  • Globalize — Localization, localization QA, functional testing

  • Engage — Marketing, LiveOps, community, and player support

In Japan, Keywords Studios delivers its full range of services across Create, Globalize, and Engage, supporting leading publishers and developers through both local and international production teams. Our presence includes the Tokyo-based development studio Wizcorp, alongside established localization, QA, player support, and marketing capabilities serving some of the most influential companies in the Japanese games and entertainment industry.

Keywords Studios is increasingly trusted by Japanese AAA partners to support large-scale productions that span multiple regions—combining Japanese creative leadership with global delivery capacity across Asia-Pacific and beyond. These engagements require not only strong production execution, but deep cultural understanding and operational leadership to align Japanese expectations with international development teams.

As one of the world’s most culturally influential and production-intensive markets, Japan represents a strategic growth area for Keywords Studios. This role supports delivery excellence, helps strengthen client partnerships, and contributes to shaping how Keywords Studios supports Japanese AAA projects globally.

We are seeking an experienced Producer to lead delivery on major Japanese AAA projects involving multiple Keywords studios across Japan, Australia and other regions.

This is a production role with ownership of cross-regional delivery, client-facing coordination, and day-to-day leadership of distributed teams. While titled “Producer,” the scope extends beyond traditional project management: you will act as the primary operational bridge between Japanese clients and international Keywords studios, ensuring alignment, trust, and consistent delivery quality.

You will work closely with Japan leadership and Global Production to help shape how Keywords supports Japanese AAA partners—combining hands-on production ownership with cross-cultural enablement.

This role offers a clear growth path toward Senior Producer and Executive Producer responsibilities as the Japan portfolio expands.

Key Responsibilities

AAA Project Delivery & Production Leadership

  • Own end-to-end production execution for large Japanese AAA projects across multiple Keywords studios.

  • Build and maintain integrated schedules, milestones, dependency tracking, and delivery plans.

  • Lead cross-regional teams to ensure predictable delivery, quality standards, and clear accountability.

  • Proactively manage scope, risks, priorities, and issue resolution.

  • Maintain production documentation including roadmaps, logs, action trackers, and change requests.

Japanese Client Interface & Partnership

  • Act as a primary production contact for Japanese clients and their internal teams.

  • Lead regular status meetings, milestone reviews, and planning discussions in Japanese.

  • Navigate Japanese business culture with diplomacy and clarity—reading between the lines while maintaining transparency.

  • Ensure expectations, commitments, and changes are clearly documented and consistently honored.

  • Contribute to building long-term client trust by delivering reliably and communicating proactively.

Cross-Cultural Enablement & Communication Ownership

  • Serve as a cultural bridge between Japanese stakeholders and Western delivery teams.

  • Help international studios understand Japanese client expectations, communication styles, and work practices.

  • Translate not only language, but intent, nuance, and priorities across regions.

  • Define and manage Japanese-language communication workflows, coordinating with interpreters, producers, and localization resources to ensure accurate and timely client-facing documentation.

Resource Coordination & Team Support

  • Coordinate staffing across studios and disciplines in collaboration with leadership.

  • Identify resourcing gaps early and support onboarding of new team members.

  • Balance project needs with team sustainability.

  • Foster collaboration and shared ownership across geographically distributed teams.

Continuous Improvement & Delivery Standards

  • Track KPIs related to delivery performance, client satisfaction, and team health.

  • Contribute to improving production processes and Japan delivery best practices.

  • Support pre-production planning and project scoping for new engagements when needed.

Skills & Competencies

  • Senior Mindset – Thinks beyond tasks to outcomes, relationships, and delivery quality.

  • Cross-Cultural Fluency – Comfortable bridging Japanese and Western production environments.

  • Client-Focused – Builds trust through reliability, clarity, and consistency.

  • Diplomatic Communicator – Able to handle difficult conversations constructively.

  • Organized & Proactive – Strong planning and prioritization skills.

  • Leadership Through Influence – Effective in matrixed environments.

  • Problem Solver – Anticipates issues early and drives practical solutions.

Qualifications

Required

  • 6–10+ years of experience in game production, project management, or AAA external development.

  • Proven experience coordinating complex, multi-site teams.

  • Professional fluency in Japanese and English, with demonstrated experience leading client-facing production discussions in Japanese.

  • Strong understanding of Japanese game development culture and publisher expectations.

  • Experience owning schedules, resourcing coordination, risk management, and delivery outcomes.

Preferred

  • Experience working directly with Japanese AAA publishers or major studios.

  • Background in co-development or service-based production environments.

  • Familiarity with art production, localization, or multi-discipline pipelines.

Additional Information

  • Competitive Market Rate Remuneration
  • Genuine flexible working – One or two days in studio.
  • Opportunity to work with our regional APAC partners, opening up to global opportunities.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and are committed to fostering a work environment that is inclusive, supports flexibility, and welcomes diversity.
