Looking for an opportunity to step into a leadership role and help a high performing local newsroom tell stories across southwestern Ontario? CBC London is hiring a multiplatform producer with journalism experience to produce the regional radio program Afternoon Drive and contribute to the successful operation of the newsroom in the afternoon and evening.
Reporting to the executive producer, you work with reporters and hosts to ensure the biggest stories of the day are shared with our audience. You put yourself in the audience’s shoes and you’re constantly asking what they need and where they’re looking for it. You understand how to program for a live daily radio show with an ear and an eye for content that can be repurposed across platforms. You keep up with emerging trends, and you understand how to respond in a breaking news situation, and on days when there’s only good news to report.
You are an experienced journalist and leader who knows how to work with high performance virtual teams. Nothing makes you happier than working with colleagues to develop original journalism that includes the various perspectives of people in both rural and urban southwestern Ontario. You will strive to broaden the range of perspectives and experiences reflected in our coverage, especially those from people who have been traditionally underrepresented in the media.
You have experience assigning and managing the work of others. You have excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills, are a strong planner and organizer, and are at ease with juggling multiple tasks and priorities at once. You care about the people you work with and have a recognized ability to coach and motivate others.
You will ensure that all our work adheres to CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices and that it upholds our core principles of accuracy, fairness, balance, impartiality and integrity.
This role requires full-time, on-site presence in the CBC London newsroom. It will be scheduled with a late morning start time.
Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next
step will be asked to complete a background check. This includes:
