Producer and Director (Video Production)

Position Description:

Network Runners, Inc. is seeking a full-time Producer and Director (Video Production) to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) Hospital Communications Department. The Producer and Director will lead the full video production lifecycle, transforming command messages, patient journeys, medical breakthroughs, events, and educational information into high-quality video content that advances Walter Reed’s strategic communication objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead project manager for video productions and develop and maintain a strategic video content calendar, production schedules, logistics plans, location requirements, and talent coordination.
  • Manage the full production lifecycle for command messages, promotional videos, patient testimonials, educational content, event coverage, social media shorts, and other video products.
  • Lead pre-production activities including concept development, storyboarding, scripting, interview planning, production scheduling, and technical preparation.
  • Direct and execute production activities including cinematography, camera operation, lighting, audio capture, interviews, and on-location production in a healthcare environment.
  • Perform and/or oversee post-production including video editing, motion graphics, color grading, sound mixing, graphics integration, captioning, and final export/delivery.
  • Collaborate with Public Affairs and communications professionals to develop strategic video concepts and narratives for internal and external audiences.
  • Maintain, inventory, and manage the lifecycle of video and audio production equipment and recommend technology or capability updates as appropriate.
  • Manage stakeholder review and approval workflows for video products and ensure all required input is incorporated before final leadership approval.
  • Ensure video products and production practices rigorously safeguard HIPAA and Protected Health Information (PHI), including during patient interviews and filming in clinical environments.

Minimum Education / Experience / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Video Production, Communications, or a related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of hands-on professional video production experience supported by a strong portfolio or showreel demonstrating expertise across the full production lifecycle.
  • Advanced proficiency with professional video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, motion graphics software such as Adobe After Effects, and color grading tools.
  • Proven experience in healthcare communications, military public affairs, or a similar regulated, high-visibility environment, including experience conducting sensitive interviews in a hospital setting.
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to rigorously safeguard HIPAA and Protected Health Information (PHI) in visual products and production workflows.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated experience managing video projects from concept through final delivery, including schedules, logistics, resources, stakeholders, and deadlines.
  • Expertise operating professional video cameras, audio recording equipment, lighting systems, and related production equipment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required Tier II non-critical sensitive background investigation and Common Access Card (CAC) for access to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and DHA systems.
  • Ability to complete required Department of War/Defense Health Agency onboarding, security, privacy, HIPAA, and other mandatory training and to execute the required DHA non-disclosure agreement prior to beginning work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional professional experience producing high-visibility medical, military, command, patient education, or public affairs video content.

Work Location: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), 8901 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Maryland 20889. Work is performed on-site Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays and Government-directed closures. Occasional support outside normal duty hours may be required for contingency plan activations or exercises.
