Job Description

Stew Leonard’s, a family-owned and operated fresh food store founded in 1969, has locations in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. Stew’s earned its nickname, the “Disneyland of Dairy Stores” because of its country-fair atmosphere, with costumed characters and animated entertainment throughout the store that keep children entertained while parents shop.

Produce Team Leader / Produce Supervisor
Full Time Hourly– Estimated pay range $18.40 to $20 depending on qualifications and experience
Must be at least 18 years and older
Reports to the Produce Manager

Team Leaders supervise, guide and motivate team members to deliver excellent customer service and the highest quality products. Team Leaders provide assistance to management in hiring and training new team members, updating management on team member performance and acts as a liaison between team members and upper management.

Your day-to-day:

• Answers team member questions, helps with team member problems, and oversees team member work for quality and guideline compliance
• Provides encouragement to team members, including communicating deadlines and goals
• Assists management with hiring process and new team member training
• Ensure production estimates are met and displays are full and merchandised, with appropriate signage
• Provides quality customer service, including interacting with customers, answering customer inquiries, and effectively handling customer complaints
• Participate in monthly, quarterly and yearly department inventories
• Other projects, as needed

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• At least one year experience with product knowledge
• On occasion, safely operate and/or use a wrapper, juicer, box cutters, and all other equipment used in the day to day operation of the produce department
• Great customer service skills
• Good computer skills and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, the HRIS, Great Plains (PO system), Interscale, and Item Maintenance
• Good organizational skills
• The ability to delegate tasks and communicate directions clearly
• The ability to multi-task

Working Conditions:

• The temperature in the department is colder than room temperature due to the products being highly perishable
• The position requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, pushing and pulling with a maximum of 75lbs and occasionally climbing and reaching.
