Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Procurement Superintendent is to oversee and coordinate the procurement of goods for the business operations, ensuring that purchases are made cost-effectively, on time, and in compliance with the Company policies and quality standards

Key Responsibilities

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

Safety:

Maintain the highest standard of health and safety performance by implementing a personal safety plan, exhibiting behaviours consistent with zero tolerance, leading -by example with colleagues, team members and suppliers and acting in accordance with Kansanshi Health and Safety policies.

Leadership:

Building ever-increasing capability within the Procurement Team, setting medium and long-term objectives aligned with Commercial goals, identifying opportunities for improved team structure and positioning, and developing new skill sets to enhance future capability. Ensuring team members are aware of and actively working toward Procurement targets, measuring performance through a leadership dashboard with meaningful metrics, and escalating issues requiring senior leadership support. Addressing business-critical situations with a sense of urgency.

Procurement Operations:

Ensuring an efficient, compliant and value add service in support of mining/processing operations.

  • Establishing an overarching quality assurance process that allows the team to sustainably achieve minimum standards.
  • Managing key relationships with peers within the operations to better understand business risks and procurement service delivery requirements.
  • Together with other stakeholders, manage key relationships with priority suppliers to continuously drive improved performance.

Problem Solving Requirements:

Key challenges include, continuously improving procurement efficiency while sustaining a high-quality business service through the accurate and correct processing of purchase orders. Enhancing supplier performance and effectively planning and prioritizing critical business requirements to ensure seamless operational support

Key Technical Skills Include:

  • Project planning and management.
  • Mastery of Pronto Purchasing functions.
  • Effective use of Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Sound written and oral communication skills.
  • Reasonable commercial acumen and negotiation expertise.
  • Effective time management and personal organisational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capability.

Qualifications

All academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).

College/University Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, procurement/supply diploma or CIPS accreditation

Other Qualifications:

Pronto accreditation

Licenses/Certifications:

Member of statutory body

Language:

  • Excellent written and spoken English essential

Experience

  • Resource Sector, or other asset intensive industry experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years supervising/managing a Procurement team.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective and efficient procurement services for the business.
  • Effective communication with various internal and external stakeholders
