Job Description

ABC Supply is North America’s largest wholesale distributor of exterior and interior building products.

ABC Supply is proud to be an employee-first company. In fact, we have won the Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award every year since its inception in 2007, and Glassdoor has named us one of the best places to work in the country. Be part of a company that recognizes your talents, rewards your efforts, and helps you reach your full potential. At ABC Supply, we have YOUR future covered.

This is a 50/50 field-and-desk role. Half your time is spent training branches and keeping them excellent at the model; the other half is spent making the department better — coordinating projects, running metric reviews, and turning what you learn in the field into the next improvement. You'll be the bridge between the people who build the tools and the buyers who use them.

If you enjoy interacting with branch staff one week, and shaping a high-impact, high visibility program the next — this is the role for you.

What you'll do:

In the field (≈50%) — training & continued excellence

  • Onboard branch teams onto the replenishment operating model: order points, suggested purchase orders, pack quantities, and item settings, so buyers spend minutes on POs instead of hours.
  • Run a continued-excellence cadence: refreshers, reinforcement, and hands-on rescue of the branches sitting near zero adoption. Sustained utilization is the goal, not a completed checklist.
  • Coach clean purchasing data at the branch — pack quantities, supplier/plant mappings, stock designations, dead-/slow-stock cleanup, and redistribution before new POs.
  • Partner with district purchasing coordinators to spread the same playbook the top-performing districts already proved.
  • Travel periodically to branches and district/region offices; coach virtually between visits.

At the desk (≈50%) — department improvement, coordination & projects

  • Coordinate cross-functional procurement projects — track owners, milestones, and blockers, and keep the field and platform teams aligned.
  • Partner with support-center stakeholders (platform/analytics, category/vendor management, field leadership) to prioritize what gets built next.
  • Prepare and help run monthly metric reviews (utilization, coordinator performance, impact/savings), pulling from authoritative sources so the numbers always tie out.
  • Maintain the branch-training curriculum, quick guides, and communication templates as the tools evolve on a fast, iterative cadence.
  • Be the voice of the field in the roadmap — surface what branches actually need and follow it through to a shipped improvement.

What success looks like:

In your first year, the branches you own are trained, active on suggested POs, and staying there — with rising utilization, cleaner purchasing data, and the near-zero branches pulled off the floor. The projects you coordinate move on schedule, and field feedback reliably reaches the people building the tools.

What we're looking for:

Required:

  • 2+ years in procurement, purchasing, inventory/replenishment, or branch/distribution operations.
  • A natural trainer and coach — you can stand in front of a branch team, teach a system, and make people want to use it.
  • Strong organization and project-coordination instincts; comfortable tracking many moving pieces and following up until they close.
  • Comfort with data and dashboards (spreadsheets and BI reports); you can read a metric, explain it, and act on it.
  • Clear communicator across levels — from a branch buyer to support-center leadership.
  • Willing and able to travel periodically to branches and district/region offices.

Preferred:

  • Building materials, roofing, or wholesale distribution experience.
  • Familiarity with replenishment concepts — order points, EOQ, safety stock, min/max, ABC velocity, lead times.
  • Experience with an ERP / purchasing system and self-service data tools.
  • Exposure to vendor collaborative planning, truckload/freight consolidation, or redistribution.

Why this role:

You'll join a small, high-output team that moves at field speed — frequent refreshes, iterative model tweaks, same-week training rounds. Your work has a direct, measurable line to dollars: recovered buyer time, leaner inventory, higher turns, and better service for customers. And you'll see it land, branch by branch.

Benefits may include:

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage - eligible after 60 days, low out of pocket
  • 401(k) with generous company match - eligible after 60 days, immediately vested
  • Employer paid employee assistance program
  • Employer paid short term and long-term disability
  • Employer paid life insurance
  • Flex spending
  • Paid vacation
  • Paid sick days
  • Paid holidays
