Within Finance, our Procurement team plays a critical role in shaping performance at Virgin Australia. We combine commercial discipline with a strong sense of partnership, working across the business to secure the right products, services and supplier outcomes to support Australia’s most loved airline.

The Procurement Operations function supports the delivery of a seamless end user purchasing experience ensuring alignment with source to pay policies, procedure and governance. To support this delivery and an optimal end user experience, the Procurement Operations function is focused on process improvement and capability uplift across our processes and systems. The team operates a hybrid model with transactional activities delivered through an offshore partner.

  • The objective of the Procurement Operations Consultant role is to support the ongoing uplift of our procurement processes, tools and capability across the business and ensuring the timely resolution of complex queries across the following workstreams
  • Supply contract execution and management within Oracle
  • Supplier creation and Vendor master data administration
  • Purchase Requisition and Purchase Order support, including Purchase Order Lifecycle management
  • Source to Pay query resolution and management
  • Fuel & IATA invoice reconciliations

Key Responsibilities:

As the Procurement Operations Consultant, you’ll support the ongoing uplift of our procurement processes, tools and capability across the business.

A key focus of the role will be developing clear, practical and sustainable ways of working, including process documentation, training materials and guidance that will enable our team and business stakeholder to confidently navigate procurement processes.

You will also provide day to day support for complex operational queries and escalations, helping resolve issues and ensure procurement activities can continue to progress effectively.

These will include:

  • Reviewing and improving Procurement Operations processes, identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve the way work is completed.
  • Developing and maintaining clear procuress documentation, procedures, work instructions and support materials.
  • Support training material development and delivery to the offshore team and business stakeholders
  • Support the implementation of process changes and helping embed new ways of working
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex operational procurement queries and issues.
  • Investigate and resolve issues across supplier creation, contract execution, purchasing, invoice reconciliation and general procurement queries.
  • Identify recurring trends, process gaps and opportunities for further improvement

You’ll be great in this role if you… | About You

  • Tertiary qualifications preferrable in commerce or finance related field
  • At least two years’ experience in a procurement, purchasing or finance related field
  • A strong understanding of procure-to-pay and source-to-contract processes, including supplier setup, contract execution and PR and PO processes.
  • Intermediate understanding of financial accounting practices and Oracle financial systems
  • Demonstrated experience developing or improving process documentation, procedures, training material or knowledge content
  • Strong problem solving skills with a proven ability to think analytically and logically, identify root causes and develop practical solutions, with a strong level of attention to detail
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • A passion for excellent customer service and able to support consistent and efficient ways of working
  • A continuous improvement mindset and genuine interest in improving processes and building capability.
