
Public Skills Australia (PSA) has been appointed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) as one of 10 Jobs and Skills Councils. PSA works with employer and employee representatives from the Public Safety and Government industry-sectors – Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Correctional Services, Defence, and all levels of Government – to ensure Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) system delivers better outcomes for learners and employers. A primary function of PSA is to provide workforce planning, industry intelligence and training product development in support of industry needs and government priorities.
The Procurement Officer is accountable to the Finance Lead and the Manager Business Operations
and works closely with all staff across the company to support financial management and deliver procurement advice, management and control over the end-to-end procurement process for Public Skills Australia. The Procurement Officer ensures adherence to the procurement policy through the education and mentoring of staff and it plays an active role in the procurement process and evaluation of submitted responses. This position is responsible for ensuring legislative and
financial compliance providing financial and procurement input to key reports to the Board and the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee.
The Procurement Officer will lead the procurement process ensuring financial compliance as set
out in regulations, legislation and the Public Skills Australia Grant Agreement. The Procurement Officer will provide proactive procurement advice to the executive and leadership of the company in relation to financial compliance, procurement best practice, procurement boards and tender/contract/service agreement evaluation. This position requires a combination of financial expertise and critical thinking to support the efficient and effective functioning of the
finance team. The Procurement Officer is responsible for coaching staff and building the financial expertise of managers holding budgets.
