Job Description

Company Description

The IKEA vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people. We do this by offering a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible can afford them. We operate in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Mexico – and have an ambitious expansion plan to bring a little bit of Sweden to new markets in the region. We are part of the Ikano Group of companies and the only IKEA franchisee owned by the Kamprad family that founded IKEA.

We also develop, own and operate Shopping Centres that are anchored by IKEA and create walkable communities by including residential, office and other types of real estate in our development plans.

We work towards making sustainability a natural part of our everyday work. We are active in our communities, driving and supporting social initiatives that benefit children, women and the environment.

Job Description

About the job

The Ikano Retail procurement team secures best-buy outcomes, strong governance and responsible supplier relationships across direct and indirect spend in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Mexico. We partner with business functions to improve value, manage commercial and compliance risks, and strengthen procurement capabilities.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will lead sourcing and procurement value delivery in Singapore. You will proactively partner with Expansion, Property, Facilities Management (FM), Fulfilment, Digital, Marketing, Food and other functions to turn business needs into commercially sound sourcing decisions and compliant practices.

Your primary assignment:

  • You will analyse spend and supplier markets with business functions, assess build, buy or borrow options, and recommend sourcing strategies balancing total cost of ownership, quality, service and risk.
  • You will lead complex, high-value sourcing across direct and indirect categories, including RFx events, supplier evaluations, negotiations, recommendations, approvals and contract handover.
  • You will own the Singapore sourcing pipeline, prioritise projects by value and risk, align scope and timing, and deliver agreed savings, cost avoidance and supplier rationalisation targets.
  • You will conduct annual or biannual spend and contract reviews to identify savings, consolidate demand, rationalise suppliers and use regional scale.
  • You will deliver practical procurement guidance and training for purchasers, approvers and contract owners, monitor mandatory training completion, and follow up or escalate gaps to country management.
  • You will support contract and supplier governance, monitoring renewals, scope, commercial terms, approvals and spend thresholds, and following up with contract owners on supplier performance and value.
  • You will embed sourcing compliance, coordinate contract compliance and audit readiness, translate controls and findings into practical guidance, and follow up or escalate unresolved gaps with recommendations.
  • You will support Singapore’s adoption of Source-to-Pay systems, category playbooks and regional initiatives, guiding users on standard workflows and controls and simplifying processes.
  • You will contribute reliable spend, contract and supplier data to regional reporting, provide clear updates on value delivery and risks, and share market intelligence and good practices.

Responsible Sourcing:

  • You will work with business functions and the IWAY compliance lead to embed IWAY in sourcing and supplier management, support risk assessments, self-assessments, verification and corrective actions, and escalate gaps.

Qualifications

Your profile

  • You have strong indirect procurement, strategic sourcing and contract management experience, leading projects from opportunity identification to contract handover. Direct category experience, including Food, is an advantage.
  • You have strong negotiation skills and financial acumen, balancing cost, quality, service, risk and long-term supplier value to deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • You understand Source-to-Pay processes and controls, including requisitions, purchase orders, goods receipt, vendor creation and approvals, and can support digital adoption and process improvements.
  • You can prioritise workloads by value and risk, coordinate stakeholders and follow through on actions, supported by strong project management skills.
  • You are fluent in English and proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to turn spend and contract analysis into clear recommendations.
  • You understand competitive bidding, contract governance and responsible sourcing, with basic IWAY knowledge. IKEA or Ikano Retail experience and local supplier-market knowledge are advantages.
  • You build effective partnerships across functions and stores, influence stakeholders, explain controls clearly, train non-procurement colleagues and escalate risks constructively.
  • You identify with IKEA values and demonstrate integrity, curiosity and a practical business mindset, helping functions make sound purchasing decisions.
