Job Purpose

Develop, implement, and execute materials strategies for the local site to ensure optimal sourcing of product to meet customers’ needs in the most cost-effective, high quality, and timely manner to insure optimum bottom line results in an honest, fair, and ethical manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide overall management for site Purchasing and Planning functions, leading the functions to deliver effective the results, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction for profitable sales.
• Manage the material sourcing process and negotiations with suppliers based on sales forecasts and production capacity to drive action as needed.
• Facilitate the daily EOS (EnerSys Operating System) program for the area of responsibility to drive continuous improvement with an emphasis on mentoring the team to reach goals and improvement plans.
• Develop and manage Planning process for the site to ensure production capacity and resources are aligned to meet customer expected response times and deliveries.
• Manage inventory investments to maximize demand including initial buys, order adjustments, and drive actions to maintain adequate inventory turns.
• Develop and manage Lean material management solutions (Kanbans) with suppliers to minimize inventory and ensure on time delivery.
• Support the company’s proposals and sales efforts by providing competitive and timely material cost estimates for manufacturing.
• Maintain and improve a Supplier Management Program including supplier scorecards. Drive improvements in delivery and cost from suppliers.
• Directly manage those personnel assigned including staffing and personnel placement, employee relations, performance appraisals, discipline, and career development.
• Identifying improvement opportunities and facilitate their implementation through insightful and critical thinking using Lean tools.
• Maintain ISO processes and SOX compliance for areas of responsibility.
• Drive and coach implementation of Lean principles to the EnerSys standards.
• Prepare annual departmental budget including: staffing requirements, capital equipment, and operation expenditures and operate department within budget
• Work with other ESG sties and departments to manage transfer of products from our NPI industrialization process into the Suwanee plant
• Work collaboratively with other EnerSys team members, departments and sites across the corporation to proactively resolve personnel, organizational, and other issues that may arise within assigned scope.
• Create and coach an inclusive and positive work culture, through our EOS tools, and development of and implementation of development plan for the team and its individual members.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field

• 10+ years in high volume assembly/manufacturing

• 5+ years leadership and management experience in international procurement, supply chain management, purchasing management

• APICS, CPIM certification preferred

• 4+ years working in a Lean manufacturing environment, utilizing Lean tools to drive improvements in materials and supply chain

• Ability to work within an ERP system to manage a supply chain, planning and execute production schedule to meet customer expectations.

• Strong computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

• Thorough understanding of and ability to apply knowledge of supply chain management, procurement, import/export, inventory control and related accounting practices.

• Proven use of quantitative analysis to drive decisions

• Experience with ERP Planning modules preferred.

• Strong leadership skills and proven ability to positively coach and motivate team members and resolve conflict
