Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a Procurement Team to achieve strategic and operational goals.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for aerospace components and materials, prioritizing LTAs and contracts to secure supply and reduce costs.
  • Supplier Negotiations: Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and conditions, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry standards (e.g., AS9100).
  • Contract Management: Develop, implement, and oversee LTAs and contracts, targeting 80% of critical components under long-term agreements within 12 months.
  • Collaboration: Partner with Production Planners to forecast material needs, Supply Chain to ensure PO execution, and SRM to leverage supplier performance data.
  • Cost Optimization: Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and delivery performance.
  • Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities meet aerospace regulatory requirements (e.g., ITAR, FAR, export controls).
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and track KPIs, such as percentage of spend under LTAs, supplier on-time delivery, and cost savings.
  • Risk Management: Assess and mitigate supply chain risks in collaboration with SRM and other stakeholders.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100) and regulatory requirements (e.g., ITAR).
  • Ability to analyze data and develop sourcing strategies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across teams.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: (Schooling and/or equivalent experience required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree or CPM/APICS certification is a plus
  • Minimum 5-7 years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience, with at least 3 years in aerospace or a similar regulated industry (e.g., defense, automotive).
  • Proven track record of negotiating LTAs and contracts with suppliers.
  • Prior leadership experience managing small teams (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier to aerospace OEMs (e.g., Boeing, Airbus).
  • Familiarity with lean supply chain practices and cost reduction methodologies.
  • Existing network of supplier contacts in the aerospace industry.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and government regulations; read and create drawings. Ability to write business correspondence and technical reports. Good verbal communication with the ability to present information and respond to questions from internal departments and vendors.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Problem Solving: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Demonstrate problem-solving techniques, use technical resources, and analyze alternatives and research issues.

Computer Skills: Working knowledge with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Project. Software experience in producing spreadsheets for reports, presentations and planning. Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems is desirable.

Other Teamwork or Skills: Ability to participate as a team member daily or in meetings. Ability to listen actively and to respond in group discussions. Willingness to learn other job skills and assist other team members. Understanding of team and business goals. Reassess work based on team goals and team priorities.

Additional Details:

Salary range $110,000 to $120,000
