The opportunity

The Procurement Hub Manager is responsible for sourcing the right materials and services, at the right cost, at the right time and location. This new and exciting role reports to the Procurement Director, working on some of Downer’s most crucial projects within the Energy & Utilities business division. The successful incumbent can envision themselves attending to duties such as:

What you’ll do

  • Build and develop a cohesive procurement hub, providing leadership, direction and effective people management
  • Ensure all purchasing activity occurs in accordance with the Downer Standard, including monitoring compliance to P2P processes and DFA and providing suitable governance and oversight
  • Work closely with project and contract delivery teams to understand technical scope and identify and implement opportunities to optimise third party spend and improve cost base or improve performance/quality issues
  • Carry out sourcing and contracting activity as required
  • Actively seek ways to improve efficiency and identify and act on cost saving opportunities
  • Lead commercial negotiations, noting contract departures and updating the procurement register
  • Understand the scope of works and services to be delivered and collate/prepare scopes of work including supporting documentation and any technical specifications/drawings

What we’re looking for

  • Tertiary level qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Law or a related field
  • Proven practical experience in engineering or project management within the energy or utilities sector (highly regarded)
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing, negotiating, and managing contracts with external suppliers and stakeholders
  • Strong project management capability with well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Highly effective communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong commercial acumen, supported by sound conceptual, analytical, and planning skills
