Job Description

Job Title

Procurement Engineer (Manager Level)

Join Philips’ Shenzhen Innovation Center, our key innovation hub in Asia where cross-functional teams co-create the next generation of Personal Health devices—Shavers, Groomers, IPL and wellness tech.

This Procurement Engineering role (Manager Level) is who thrives at the intersection of product development and business value. You will act as a Value Architect, shaping product architectures and supplier strategies from early concept through industrialization and lifecycle optimization, ensuring we deliver sustainable value for people, consumers and the planet.

This is procurement at the front end: design-in value, engineer-out waste, de-risk supply, and scale innovation with strategic suppliers.

Your impact

As Procurement Engineer (Manager Level), you will lead value creation in innovation and development programs by combining:

  • Technical depth (mechanical/electrical design understanding; manufacturing and industrialization insight)
  • Commercial sharpness (cost modelling, should-cost, TCO/NPV thinking, sourcing strategy)
  • Influence and stakeholder leadership (driving decisions across R&D, Marketing, Quality, SCM and Procurement)
  • Supplier co-creation (early supplier involvement, design-in, and innovation partnerships)

You will be a key driver in translating product choices into clear supplier requirements and sourcing-ready packages—enabling Commodity Management to execute at speed and with maximum value.

Job Profile Summary

The Procurement Engineer (Manager Level) leads lifecycle wide program and product execution from Advanced Development and New Product Introduction (NPI) through end-of-life & service. It develops and industrializes the supply base, drives Product Cost Roadmaps (PCRs), and executes Design for eXcellence (DfX) analyses and value-creation to optimize cost, quality, and risk. The role conducts early supplier engagement to integrate manufacturing capabilities and technology innovations into product designs and ensures supplier readiness for prototype, pilot, and ramp up phases. It evaluates supplier proposals, analyzes market and cost model data, and identifies value improvement opportunities. The role develops platforming, standardization, and component simplification strategies to improve product robustness, manufacturability, and total cost performance throughout the life cycle of the product, working under limited supervision.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead early supplier innovation activities and integrate manufacturing capabilities and technology inputs into product concepts.
  • Partner with Engineering to embed supplier driven innovations and influence design specifications for optimal cost, quality, and robustness.
  • Develop component simplification, standardization, and platforming strategies across the portfolio.
  • Ensure supplier readiness and capacity for prototype, pilot, and product ramp up phases.
  • Build and maintain Product Cost Roadmaps using production, cost model, competitive benchmarks and market data for data driven cost optimization.
  • Analyze supplier proposals and market trends to identify cost reduction and value creation opportunities.
  • Lead cost engineering, risk reduction, and quality improvement initiatives that influence product performance and sourcing strategy.
  • Execute procurement project plans, manage risks, and track progress through KPIs, dashboards, and structured reporting and insights.
  • Drive strategic sourcing processes including early supplier involvement, qualification, and selection.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate cross functional collaboration with Engineering, Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders.

Minimum Required Qualifications
