Procurement Engineer
The Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services required for construction or engineering projects. The role ensures timely procurement at competitive prices while maintaining quality standards, compliance with specifications, and project schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers and subcontractors based on project requirements
- Prepare and manage purchase orders and contracts in accordance with company procedures
- Conduct cost analysis, control budgets, and negotiate material prices with suppliers
- Monitor delivery schedules, lead times, and logistics to ensure timely project execution
- Evaluate supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality standards
- Coordinate with project teams to understand and fulfill material requirements
- Maintain vendor documentation, approvals, and ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Manage inventory levels and monitor stock control to support project continuity
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in procurement within the civil construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction materials such as concrete, steel, aggregates, formwork, and finishing materials.
- Experienced in sourcing, evaluating, and selecting suppliers and subcontractors for civil works.
- Skilled in preparing and managing purchase orders, contracts, and procurement documentation.
- Strong experience in cost analysis, budget control, and negotiation of civil material rates.
- Ability to monitor delivery schedules, lead times, and site logistics to ensure uninterrupted construction progress.
- Experience in coordinating with site engineers, project managers, and QA/QC teams for material requirements.
- Knowledge of vendor management, approvals, and compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Familiar with inventory control and stock management for civil construction materials.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ERP systems (preferred).
