Vanderlande is seeking a Pr ocure ment Cost Engineer to drive cost optimizati on through com prehensive cost mode li ng and analy sis. As a piv otal member of the global Pr ocurement C enter of Excel len ce ( CoE), y ou will f ocus on d ev elopi ng sh oul d-cost models a nd providing insights to supp ort strat egic procure ment de cisi ons and cost r educti on eff orts.

W hat will you be doing?

As a Pr ocurement Cost Engineer, you will gather and analyze design- and cost data to build and maintain cost models for supporting Sales with budgets and build and maintain related should-cost models, compare these estimates with supplier quotes, and prepare reports to identify cost saving opportunities. Y our detailed c ost analy sis will support pr ocure ment negotiation s, and you w ill contribute to refining co st m odeling pr ocesses and to ols.

R esponsibilit ies

  • Gather and analyze cost-related data from various sources, including raw material prices, labor rates, and manufacturing processes to support the development of cost models and should-cost models at the component, assembly, or system level:
    - Perform cost maintenance and design related updates, on Computer Aided Pricing software tool (CAP) equipment records and track and report cost differences between product lifecycle milestones re cords
    - (Current state) It em selecti on for CAP re cords
  • Build and maintain detailed (should) cost models including cost drivers of current and future products and services that provide insights into the theoretical minimum costs for products and services, with input from technology information
  • Maintain and set-up equipment cost calculations in Computer Aided Cost Estimation software tool (Facton EPC)
  • Compare should-cost estimates with supplier quotes and market prices, and prepare reports highlighting discrepancies and potential cost-saving opportunities
  • Provide detailed cost analysis to support procurement negotiations with suppliers, helping to achieve favorable terms and cost reductions. Be an active member of the procurement negotiation team with suppliers
  • Contribute to the refinement of cost modeling processes and tools, suggesting improvements based on feedback and evolving business needs
  • Add value to Value Engineering and DFX projects by providing should cost estimations or cost drivers for mechanical and/or electrical equipment during the development phases

W hat do we ask from y ou?

To be s uc cessful in this role, you should h ave:

  • P ro ven experien ce in engineering, ana lyzing a nd i nte rpreting co st data, p refer abl y p rocu reme nt-speci fic d ata using an e stablished co st engineer ing tool (eg., Fac ton) a nd in a manu fac tur ing e nvi ro nme nt (m aterial cost s, p rodu cti on co st s)
  • P roficien cy in d ata l anguages (eg., SQ L, Python, R) a nd anal ytics tools, capable of ext racting and inter pret ing com pl ex d ata sets to ide nti fy t re nds, p at terns, a nd insi ghts for further cost modelling and forecasting
  • P roficien cy in d ata visual ization tools (eg., Po wer BI, Tableau, E xcel) to ef fecti ve ly commu ni cate finan cial and co st insig hts. Set scope and find internal support at other departments, in putting together reporting & visualization
  • Ad vanc ed skills in con ducting sh oul d- co st mo deling to as sess p rodu ct and s ervi ce co st dri ve rs and to tal co st of owne rship ( TCO)
  • Abili ty to in depende ntly handle a d-hoc co st engineering and anal ysis req ue sts alo ngside the c reation of recur ring reports
  • Proven experience in translating technological design data into financial cost data and being able to determine cost drivers, using known cost engineering techniques
  • Knowledge / experience in cost engineering (CE) and value engineering (VE)
  • Proven experience in Data Management (JDE, and Enovia) & Tools (Computer Aided Cost Estimation Software (Facton EPC) and/or CAP)
  • Familiarity with p rocu reme nt p rocesses and su pply ch ain mana ge me nt
  • E xcelle nt col lab oration skills to work ef fecti vely wi th c ros s-functi onal te ams a nd sta kehol de rs
  • P roficien cy in English for cle ar commun ication wi thin an i ntern ati onal te am s ett ing

This position offers a competitive salary range of € 5.000 to € 6.700 per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance).
