Procurement Assistant

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Assistant to join our Supply Chain Management team in Palmerston North.

In this key support role, you will work closely with the purchasing team to help maintain optimal stock levels, ensure the efficient flow of goods and documentation, and support day-to-day procurement activities. You'll play an important role in ensuring products are available when needed while helping deliver excellent service to our customers.

This opportunity may suit someone with a couple of years' administration experience looking to build a career in Supply Chain and Procurement, or a recent graduate seeking a hands-on entry point into a global business with strong development opportunities.

What You Will Deliver

  • Support stock purchasing activities using Buyers Guide Reports, sales trends, stock usage data, and supplier lead times to maintain appropriate inventory levels
  • Create and maintain accurate Purchase Orders (POs) in SAP, ensuring documentation is completed and filed in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate shipping documentation and ensure timely submission to customs brokers and the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) team ahead of shipment arrivals
  • Maintain accurate material master data in SAP, including new product creation, pricing updates, standard cost maintenance, and new agency setup
  • Process supplier and customs broker invoices, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly following goods receipt
  • Prepare and distribute weekly inventory and stock reports, including out-of-stock, point-of-sale stock on hand, and goods receipted reporting
  • Provide administrative support and assist with the coordination of purchasing activities as required

What You Bring

  • Previous administration, data entry, or coordination experience
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across internal teams and external partners
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Confidence working with systems and large volumes of data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • SAP experience would be beneficial, although training can be provided for the right candidate
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to delivering quality outcomes

Why Join DKSH?

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure across purchasing, inventory management, logistics, and supply chain operations. You'll work alongside experienced professionals, develop valuable commercial and operational skills, and gain hands-on experience in a global business environment.

If you're looking for a role where your attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment can make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you. Apply online with a current CV and cover letter outlining your interest in the role.
