As a Sterile Processing Tech II, you will be responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and distributing medical instruments and supplies for patient care. You will play a vital role in infection control and patient safety by ensuring all equipment meets the highest industry standards.
• Decontamination & Sterilization Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment per AAMI standards.
• Instrument Preparation Inspect, assemble, and wrap surgical trays and equipment for use.
• Inventory Management Maintain supply levels and ensure timely distribution to patient care areas.
• Equipment Handling Operate specialized medical sterilization equipment safely and efficiently.
• Patient Support (Cedar Falls location only) Transport patients and assist nursing staff with pre-operative procedures.
• Education High school diploma or GED required. Specialized training in sterile processing preferred.
• Experience Minimum 6 months of experience working with surgical instruments or patient care support.
• Skills & Knowledge
Familiarity with medical terminology and sterilization techniques.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize urgent requests.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs; push/pull up to 150 lbs
• Exposure to sterilization equipment, potential infectious materials, and a high-paced hospital setting.
• Must be comfortable working under pressure and following strict safety protocols.
