Job Description

Processing Superintendent

Reporting to the Processing Manager, the Processing Superintendent is responsible for the safety performance of the processing team and the safe operation of the Ravenswood Gold Plant. The role is also responsible for process optimisation and giving daily operational direction to production supervisors and their teams. The purpose of the role is to drive safety and production plan execution, as well as implementing organisational culture change.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Demonstrate stewardship in safety and health by leading safety plans and ensuring
    compliance with all legislative requirements.
  • Promote a safe culture by actively leading and driving hazard reporting, field leadership
    activity as well as continuous improvement.
  • Lead and contribute to incident investigations, risk management, and management of
    change processes.
  • Contribute to and support effective fixed plant maintenance planning, shutdown execution,
    operational readiness and commissioning of new projects.
  • Deliver production budget and manage non-compliance effectively through operational
    performance and improvement project management systems.
  • Manage departmental costs, providing inputs into CAPEX and OPEX budgeting and
    forecasting to ensure positive financial performance.
  • Effectively manage the tailings storage facility (TSF), cyanide handling and water to
    ensure operational and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure ongoing training and development of processing personnel to attain key
    competencies and meet legislative requirements.
  • Guide and develop effective operating strategies to address performance gaps using the
    operational management system and collaborate with the metallurgical team to
    improve productivity.
  • Coach and mentor the processing team, using knowledge and expertise to review work
    practices and actively manage employee performance and development.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support all functions of the processing
    department
  • Assisting the Processing Manager to drive change by implementing defined accountabilities
    and setting critical tasks for the processing team.

About You:

Essential

  • 10 years of experience within a process plant environment, with at least 5 years in a
    superintendent level role.
  • Extensive industry, frontline leadership experience within a gold or base metal
    processing environment
  • Background and/or qualifications in production execution management, metallurgy, chemical
    engineering, or related fields is not compulsory but will be considered
    favourably
  • Ability to collaborate, engage, influence outcomes and communicate internally as well as
    across functional disciplines at multiple levels to support production
    execution
  • Strong, hands-on work ethic, coupled with a sense of urgency and ability to get things
    done in an emerging, high-growth company.
  • Highly autonomous, organised, self-starting and proactive team player with ability to
    multi-task and lead effectively.
  • Demonstrated safety leadership and the confidence to lead by example to maintain a high
    profile in the promotion of a safe working environment.
  • Possess confident ability to organise and lead diverse teams effectively. Proven
    experience in leading change and strong interpersonal skills highly desirable.
  • Have previous and proven experience as a people leader, with the ability to
    influence and shape a positive team culture.
  • Change driver with proven experience in leadership, coaching and performance
    management.

Desirable

  • Advanced level understanding and experience with management of improvement and
    operational performance systems will be advantageous
