Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to the following tasks:

  • Perform various Fiber & Pulp analyses per industry standards and at times creatively adjust protocols when needed to meet test requests.
  • Report test results and coordinate with our other Valmet laboratory facilities to ensure that the performed analyses align with corporate standards.

  • Keep logs for all jobs and equipment in the facility.
  • Request equipment quotes from suppliers and submit new investment needs.
  • Work with the purchasing team to replenish material levels.
  • Coordinate required yearly service and calibration of equipment.
  • Perform ongoing maintenance (filter changes and small equipment repairs).
  • Train new field personnel on basic lab analyses.
  • Direct hourly employee.
  • Process support for field and product teams.

Expectations

The successful candidate must be self-driven, detailed oriented, well organized, and patient since many of the tasks are repetitive.

Preferably, but not necessary, you will have an Associates or Technical degree, or a related field combined with strong knowledge of pulp and paper manufacturing processes and technologies. A combination of relevant schooling with hands on work experience could also be considered.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team with different internal departments and independently with excellent communication and presentation skills.

Previous experience in a similar role within a paper or pulp fiber technology center is preferred.
