Purpose of Job

The Process Quality Analyst will support all Quality Assurance activities on all the manufacturing lines, reporting to the Quality Manager of the Wisbech Plant. The role is part of the overall Quality team onsite.

To understand customer quality requirements and manufacturing specifications and thereby provide sound and prompt advice to team members, managers, and site leadership team via analysis of quality data and trends. This ensures that the product remains within critical control parameters. The work input is critical in continuous improvement initiatives and adherence to quality control systems and standards.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for all shift quality control activities. Fully understanding and promoting customer product Quality standards across all lines and shifts.
  • Stop production and isolate product if customer’s requirements are not being met.
  • Provide the link between shift production teams and the quality team by communicating quality and hygiene requirements throughout the shift.
  • Plan and control all shift quality and hygiene activities to ensure compliance with all 3rd party management standards as well as all Sonoco Quality requirements.
  • Ensure a thorough, accurate and documented shift hand over of all quality and hygiene issues.
  • Ensure that shift crews work to the protocols defined and are fully engaged in quality activities throughout the shift.
  • Ensure quality control and hygiene incidents are handled in accordance with defined procedures, instructions, and standards.
  • Ensure that all logbooks are completed fully and accurately.
  • Ensure all quality measurement gauging is maintained, within calibration and to provide initial fault diagnosis on suspect equipment.
  • Ensure all vision inspection systems are maintained, scans are verified, performance is correct and to provide initial fault diagnosis on suspect equipment.
  • To be fully capable of using and interpreting statistical data and ensuring their use to improve processes.
  • Ensure sound and timely decision making online and to positively audit finished packs for release to the customer.
  • Ensure all operator quality system checks are reviewed for completeness and that corrective actions are taken or reported as outstanding at shift hand over.
  • Ensure that non-conforming raw materials are properly controlled through the DRM system.
  • Prepare regular shift quality reports to be used in daily production meetings.
  • Attend daily production meetings and/or to represent the plant during customer audits and at customer sites as appropriate.
  • Manage other shift quality control duties as defined from time to time.
  • Ensure that all critical process control parameters are maintained within specification.
  • Ensure that all appropriate actions are taken to supply a quality finished product to the customer.
  • Identify high-risk activities, events, and trends.
  • Work pro-actively with the manufacturing team and use your own initiative based on data and information available.
  • Complete all Internal audits assigned to you within the defined time frame with any issues resolved at the time if feasible to do so.
  • Work flexibly in any work area as far as safety and capability permit.

  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with all applicable safety procedures.
  • Practice safe working techniques in all that you do.
  • Support and engage the business with any safety related initiatives and programs.
  • Support the business with carrying out safety observations and discussions with others, finding any fixes or improvements which can be proposed to the site.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Quality related background is essential
  • Internal Auditor trained
  • HACCP knowledge
  • Problem Solving (4c, DMAIC, 5Y etc)
  • Working knowledge of the can making process. Is advantageous
  • Experience and knowledge of SPC.
  • Computer/IT literate
  • Communication skills – written and verbal
