Process Operator – Witham

Join Bureau Veritas and play a key role in supporting our busy laboratory team. We are looking for a proactive and reliable Process Operator to assist with analytical sample preparation, laboratory housekeeping, and porter duties across our site.

The Role

As a Process Operator, you will support the laboratory by accurately weighing analytical samples, preparing materials for testing, and ensuring all equipment and glassware are cleaned and ready for use. You will also provide porter support using the company van (if you hold a current driving licence). Working under the guidance of the Chemist or Laboratory Supervisor, you’ll help maintain high standards of quality, safety and efficiency within the lab.

Key Responsibilities

All duties must be completed in line with Bureau Veritas and Inspectorate Ltd policies, including Health & Safety, Environmental standards, and our ISO accreditations (9001, 14001, 18001 and 17025). Responsibilities include:

• Developing strong laboratory weighing techniques and sample preparation skills.
• Ensuring work is completed accurately, following established methods and quality procedures.
• Building an understanding of different material types and their preparation requirements.
• Maintaining an excellent understanding of UKAS ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 quality systems.
• Ensuring equipment is effectively used, cleaned, and maintained.
• Supporting the upkeep of a clean, safe and well-organised laboratory environment.
• Assisting the team leader with accurate, timely weighing of analytical samples.
• Reporting any deviations or issues with methods, systems or procedures to the Supervisor.
• Carrying out any other duties as directed by the Laboratory Supervisor.

• Computer literacy.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Discretion, confidentiality and professionalism.
• Clear communication skills at all levels.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to weigh/prepare samples quickly and accurately.
• A disciplined, organised approach to work.
• A full driving licence (required for porter duties).
