Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in setting up and operating a variety of machines to repair and manufacture parts. Coordinate peer-level leadership activities for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department/shift to include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for centralized Blending operations
  • Establish and communicate the vision for training within the Blending Area
  • Maintain Gemba Boards and present departmental updates during shift changes
  • Learn, practice, and teach Leader Standard Work (LSW); mentor Leads and peer level leadership in execution and auditing
  • Serve as the central point of action for Blending operations
  • Maintain daily attendance and timekeeping records
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, coaching, performance evaluation, and discipline
  • Analyze work orders to estimate labor hours and develop schedules supporting manufacturing and repair requirements
  • Plan material flow, compute stock requirements, requisition materials, and manage inventory levels
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders and assign work accordingly
  • Develop and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and customer demands
  • Interface with department leaders to meet cost, throughput, and delivery objectives
  • Inspect parts and processes to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards
  • Perform weekly production planning and report results to senior management
  • Manage performance review processes and submit required reports to senior leadership
  • Identify, recommend, and implement improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality
  • Reduce rework through certification, training, and process discipline
  • Develop capital equipment justifications to improve quality, cost, and cycle time
  • Analyze and resolve operational issues and support employees in problem solving
  • Comply with all safety and EHS policies and report unsafe conditions or behaviors
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of integrity
  • Travel overnight up to 10% as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and business objectives

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school OR
  • Seven (7) or more years of leadership experience in a related manufacturing or repair environment
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate work instructions, blueprints, and technical documentation
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present information to individuals and small groups
  • Basic mathematical skills including calculations involving rates, ratios, percentages, and interpretation of charts
  • Sound judgment and problem solving skills in standardized operational situations
  • Basic computer proficiency including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and related applications
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work safely in environments with noise, chemicals, and required personal protective equipment
