Job Description

Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases (CE&IG) is a leading provider of cryogenic pumps, heat exchangers, process systems, turboexpanders, services, and solutions for the LH2, LNG and industrial gases industries. Objective:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our team, specializing in the design and optimization of cryogenic applications for clean energy and industrial gases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process cycle design, equipment sizing, and a deep understanding of cryogenic processes. This role involves leading the design and implementation of efficient and cost-effective process cycles and the sizing of major equipment necessary for cryogenic applications.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities & Authorities:

· Process Design and Optimization:

  • Lead the development and optimization of process cycles for cryogenic applications in clean energy and industrial gases.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, process simulations, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

· Equipment Sizing and Selection:

  • Calculate and determine the appropriate sizing for major equipment such as compressors, heat exchangers, distillation columns, and expansion turbines.
  • Specify and select suitable materials and equipment to meet process requirements and standards.

· Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers to ensure cohesive project execution.

· Project Management:

  • Lead or participate in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Oversee and coordinate the technical aspects of projects from conception to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.

· Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, operation manuals, and technical reports.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.

· Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Stay updated with the latest technological advancements and industry trends in cryogenic processes and clean energy applications.

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and shopfloor/manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, some lightweight tools, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Education, Experience and Skills:

    · Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

    A minimum of 10+ years of experience in process engineering, with at least 8+ years in cryogenic applications for clean energy and industrial gases. (as an example, Air separation Unit (ASUs), Cryogenic storage & regasification, Cryogenic transfer skid etc..)

    · Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., ChemCAD, Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus).

    · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    · Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASME, API, ISO).

    · Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
