He angitūtanga: The Opportunity
We’re looking for a highly capable Process and Improvement Specialist to join our Animal Management unit at Auckland Council. In this role, you will provide specialist technical advice and support across a range of portfolios, including document control, system administration, policy development and process improvement.

You’ll help shape how our unit operates by ensuring our documents, policies and systems are accurate, current and aligned with best practice and legislative requirements. You’ll support the development of training programmes, contribute to strategic initiatives, and play a key role in continuous improvement across the department.

He kōrero mōu: About You
You bring extensive experience in compliance, enforcement, business improvement, project management or a related field, supported by a relevant qualification. You’re confident navigating legislation and translating complex requirements into practical guidance for staff and stakeholders.

You’re skilled in document control, policy development and process improvement, with a strong eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy. You’re analytical, able to identify trends and provide insights that support informed decision‑making. You’re also comfortable managing risk, updating risk matrices and contributing to robust risk management practices.

You communicate clearly, build strong relationships and enjoy supporting others to understand new processes, systems or legislative changes. You’re adaptable, proactive and able to work effectively across teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

You’ll also bring:

  • Proven experience in process improvement, document control and policy development
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Confidence preparing reports for internal and external audiences
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • A commitment to health, safety and wellbeing
  • A current full New Zealand driver licence
  • A willingness to use basic te reo Māori and apply tikanga where appropriate
