The role of a Process Engineering Technician at Hitachi Energy involves several key responsibilities and competencies:

  • Production Processes Support the development and implementation of scalable and adaptable manufacturing processes that align with business needs, quality standards, and safety regulations. This includes reviewing and improving work instructions, tools, and equipment to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and achieve long-term production objectives.
  • Technical Support Provide technical support to production teams on process-related issues. This involves developing and delivering technical training to enhance team skills and participating in production support activities by addressing technical questions, specifying materials, and advising on equipment selection to optimize process performance.
  • Equipment and Technology Management Support the reliable operation and proper maintenance of machinery by following best practices to minimize downtime. Ensure that updated process and technical documentation are provided to the Supply Chain Management team to support supplier evaluations and agreements.
  • Data and KPI Analysis Monitor process performance and quality metrics to identify potential issues. Analyze data to support troubleshooting efforts and ensure processes stay within quality standards.
  • Continuous Improvement Support the organization in identifying, recommending, and implementing improvement projects using lean methodologies.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Comply with health, safety, and environmental standards by following procedures and promoting a strong safety mindset. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Skills and Competencies

  • Technical Skills Proficiency in data analysis, KPI monitoring, and technical studies to support decision-making. Ability to troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Interpersonal Skills Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge Areas Understanding of manufacturing processes and systems, mechanical or industrial engineering principles, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, process validation and regulatory compliance, production planning and cost analysis, materials and equipment used in production, health, safety, and environmental regulations, new product introduction processes, and statistical process control and quality systems.
