Responsibilities & Qualifications

Novelis Bay Minette is seeking a Process Engineer Intern to support manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives within our aluminum operations. This internship provides hands-on experience in process optimization, production support, data analysis, quality improvement, and operational excellence within a manufacturing environment. The Process Engineer Intern will work closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.

Responsibilities:

· Support process improvement projects across manufacturing operations.

· Analyze production, quality, and process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

· Assist with troubleshooting process-related issues and implementing corrective actions.

· Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.

· Develop and update process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational excellence initiatives.

· Track project progress and communicate findings, recommendations, and results to leadership.

· Promote and maintain a strong safety culture while adhering to site safety and environmental standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.

· Junior, Senior, or recent graduate standing.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

· Effective verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

· Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Prior internship, co-op, laboratory, or manufacturing experience.

· Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

· Experience analyzing and interpreting large data sets.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or other data analysis tools.

· Interest in manufacturing operations and process optimization.

· Demonstrated leadership through work, academic projects, student organizations, or extracurricular activities.

Location Profile

Novelis' newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 high-paying advanced careers in modern manufacturing. This highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will be the first of its kind. It will primarily serve our customers in the beverage can and automotive markets.
