Job Description

Role Purpose

Works with other team members to solve difficult technical, engineering related problems. Supports or leads continuous improvement activities, new product or process introductions and cost reduction projects. Supports drive to fundamental process understanding and lowest cost producer objectives. Supports the development and execution of plans to evaluate new technology or improvements in existing technology resulting in a superior product in terms of quality and/or cost. Understands Corning's Intellectual property management processes and follows that process in documenting any intellectual property developed as part of a project

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support Melting process development and engineering to improve energy efficiency and process emission to achieve business goals.
  • Lead or support the commission / deployment of new technologies related to Sustainability objectives.
  • Lead or support manufacturing capital expansions, startups and equipment repair worldwide as required
  • Worldwide manufacturing supports. Provide troubleshooting for operational and performance related issues.

Education and Experience

  • BS degree or above - major in chemical / mechanical / energy / industrial engineering or science related majors.
  • Experience in CAD drawing capability, combustion process or heat recovery system will be a big plus.

Required Technical Skills

  • Domain knowledge on thermal process.
  • Experiment design and execution.
  • Methodology – PCPD, Six Sigma, DMAIC, KT and so on.
  • Data analysis experience – Statistical knowledge

Desired Skills

  • Problem solving, analytical skills and decision making.
  • A quick learner with hands-on experience in fab.

Soft Skills

  • Good communication and coordination skills in Chinese and English.
  • Positive working attitude and interpersonal skills.
  • Keen for challenge the goal and work under high pressure.
  • Experience or willingness to work across multiple cultures in a globally diverse team.
