Job Description

What to Expect

Tesla is accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Revolutionary strategies and products were developed within a few years and successfully launched on a large scale. This is only possible through extraordinary speed, innovation and efficiency.

Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg forms the perfect basis for rolling out Tesla's incredible success story in Europe. The most important pillar for this is our employees. Their passion, motivation and engagement ensure that we achieve our goals. We are looking for you to continue and expand this success story together.

The role

The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. Tesla’s Production Engineering team is at the forefront of designing cutting-edge electrode production processes and transferring them into mass production. This team operates and develops highly elaborate processes for high volume and high quality.

As a Process Engineer, you will push these technologies to their limits, ensuring reliable and high-performing processes. You will deeply analyze and resolve issues, continuously improving and optimizing production. The ideal candidate takes pride in hands-on work, analytical thinking, organization, and attention to detail. You thrive in an environment where excellence is expected, noticed, and rewarded - and where individuals carry real responsibility.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead end-to-end optimization of production processes — balancing safety, quality, cost, and performance to achieve world-class OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
  • Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives that boost yield, capacity, and process capability.
  • Apply technical expertise to design, develop, and innovate manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design Engineering, NPI, Quality, Operations) to ensure robust, scalable, and manufacturable solutions.
  • Drive successful new product introductions, ensuring seamless transition from concept to production.
  • Empower data-driven decisions by leveraging predictive analytics and integrating factory data systems.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies: Design of Experiments (DoE), 5W (Five Why), 8D, and more.
  • Reduce process variation using SPC (Statistical Process Control) and MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis).
  • Develop and maintain clear, effective Standard Work Instructions and audit compliance rigorously.
  • Contribute to the creation and evolution of FMEAs and Control Plans.
  • Redesign production line layouts with a focus on material flow, waste reduction, ergonomics, and Lean principles.
  • Train and mentor Process Technicians and support frontline associates in mastering new processes.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent proven experience with exceptional results.
  • Solid experience with automated production systems — slitter tool experience is a strong plus.
  • 5+ years in a technology-driven manufacturing environment using automation and advanced production techniques.
  • Proven process engineering skills: process development, root cause analysis, data-driven troubleshooting, constraint management, and flow optimization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills — able to collaborate effectively across all levels, especially with shop floor teams.
  • Ability to identify critical process parameters and apply statistical methods to control and improve performance.
  • Confident in delivering clear, actionable technical guidance to engineers and operational teams.
  • Hands-on mindset — you don’t just analyze, you get involved.
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus.
