Job Description Summary

Responsible for Process Engineering activities and productivity improvement initiatives. Lead, Coordinate, Coach & Mentor Lean Coordinators for higher performance with effective execution rigor.

Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Accountable for the quality of own work. Subject to direct operations supervision/prescribed work instructions/systems checking. Executes within a well-defined operations framework. There is generally a step by step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • New product Introduction supporting initiatives:
  • Calculate takt time for new products based on forecasted volumes.
  • Plan production loading in line with forecast demand and available capacity.
  • Determine the number of workstations required based on product takt time.
  • Prepare process flow charts for products.
  • Develop process layouts according to production volume requirements.
  • Plan and validate process-related facilities for assembly, including tools, fixtures, material handling equipment, bins, and trolleys
  • Process Improvement initiatives:
  • Standardize work through the development of work instructions and standard work documents.
  • Prepare lift plans to ensure smooth and efficient product movement.
  • Improve assembly line capacity using Lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Lead and coordinate Kaizen initiatives across assembly lines.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Capacity planning:
  • Plan assembly line capacity based on forecasted demand and implement productivity improvements to meet customer requirements.
  • Conduct cycle time studies and ensure effective line balancing.
  • Prepare product-wise Value Stream Maps (VSM) for assembly processes.
  • Expertise skills:
  • Drive 5S, Standard Work, and Daily Management initiatives across the factory.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless process integration.
  • Train employees on new technologies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Manage projects related to process improvement and facility expansion.
  • Collect and analyze data to support process improvement decisions.
  • Possess strong knowledge of cycle time studies and process mapping.
  • Have hands-on experience in Lean manufacturing, line balancing, and layout changes.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of advanced manufacturing processes, especially assembly operations.
  • Monitor capacity utilization and prepare MIS reports for process performance.
  • Prepare process documentation such as work instructions, and control plans.
  • Facilitate and train operators on process changes, projects, and ECNs.
  • Understand Design for Assembly, low-cost automation, and improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and lead vendor management, including raising Purchase requisition for assembly related tools and equipments.
  • Have knowledge of tool selection, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Ensure engineering designs and specifications are accurately documented.
  • Support deployment of plant Lean strategy.
  • Contribute to the digitization of manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge on ISO documentation.
  • Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineer with a minimum of 8-10 years of Experience in Industrial engineering and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience of leading teams in earlier roles.
  • Knowledge of assembly manufacturing functions and exposure to quality, engineering, lean and testing, or engineering processes.
  • Good analytical skills and a systematic approach to narrowing down technical issues.
