The Machining Engineer industrializes and sustains machining processes for gas turbine component repair. The role ensures process readiness, repeatability, and compliance to engineering and quality requirements. The engineer works closely with AMRT, Operations, and Quality teams to bring new repair methods into production and to maintain stable, capable machining operations that meet SQDC objectives.
Essential Responsibilities :
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Industrialize CNC machining processes (such as CNC Mill/Turn, EDM) for turbine component repair
Support First Piece and Pilot Lot Qualifications (FPQ/PLQ) and ensure readiness for production
Maintain process documentation including work instructions, setup sheets, and control plans
Troubleshoot machining issues and lead root cause and corrective actions
Partner with Maintenance to ensure equipment qualification and upkeep
Drive safety risk reduction, quality improvements, cycle-time and cost improvements through Lean and continuous improvement projects
Support technician training and ensure adherence to EHS and Life Saving Rules
Collaborate cross-functionally to sustain high-quality and reliable machining operations
Qualifications/Requirements
A Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a local or internationally recognised university
At least 3 years experience engineering processes in related industry preferred
Knowledge of repair of Gas Turbine components and CNC machining will be advantageous
Familiarity with tooling selection, fixture design, CAD, CAM and metrology
Experience in engineering processes and CNC machining is essential.
Previous experience in repair of industrial gas, aero turbines or aeroderivatives would be advantageous (but not essential)
Experience in Lean Six sigma would be advantageous (but not essential)
