Job Description

ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology

Enabling smaller, more powerful and more energy-efficient microchips

Working where tomorrow is created.

Around 80 per cent of all microchips worldwide are manufactured using ZEISS technologies. As the heart of every electronically controlled system, they have become an indispensable part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and solutions for process control, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, more powerful and more energy-efficient microchips – and is thus playing a decisive role in shaping the age of micro- and nanoelectronics with its innovations.

In this role, you will be responsible for processes along the value stream covering cleaning, inspection and coating, and will work closely with production, development and quality. The focus is on the continuous development and stabilisation of cleaning and coating processes for high-precision optical components.

Your Role

  • In this role, you take ownership for new product introductions and quality topics and apply established structured problem-solving methods to secure stable processes.
  • Together with Manufacturing and R&D, you introduce innovative processes along the value stream and continuously enhance existing workflows.
  • A particular focus of your work is the supervision and optimization of cleaning processes for high‑precision optical components, ensuring highest cleanliness and quality requirements are met.
  • You also monitor and optimize coating processes for optical components to improve process stability, throughput and product quality.
  • You proactively drive technology changes and ensure that targets regarding timing, cost and quality are achieved.
  • Experimental plans are defined and executed by you, including the selection of suitable parameters, systematic evaluation of the results and transparent documentation.
  • By involving colleagues from interfacing departments, you gain their commitment for your projects and foster effective cross‑functional collaboration.

Your Profile

  • You hold a successfully completed university degree in a natural or engineering science such as Chemistry, Process Engineering, Materials Science or a comparable field.
  • You have several years of relevant experience in production environments, ideally in the optical industry or similarly demanding high‑tech manufacturing.
  • Proven expertise in process optimization in a manufacturing context is part of your background, and you confidently apply structured problem‑solving methods (for example PDCA, 8D).
  • You are particularly experienced in cleaning processes for high‑precision optical components as well as in precision cleaning of sensitive parts and ideally bring hands‑on experience with cleanroom technology, vacuum technology and coating technology.
  • A high level of initiative, strong analytical skills and excellent communication capabilities characterize you and enable you to convince and align different stakeholders.
  • You are fluent in German and have very good command of English, both written and spoken, allowing you to operate safely in an international environment.
