
PROCESS ENGINEER (Temporary - 12 months)
As a Process Engineer your responsibilities will include design, engineering, commissioning, new product introduction, testing, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and technical support for industrial facility systems, process equipment, machinery, and various processes for an industry-leading Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul organization for gas turbine engines and components.
What you’ll do:
Implement book repairs and source-controlled repairs, including interpreting and applying repair routings and rework process instructions.
Develop, review, and implement tooling: identify off the shelf, in house, OEM or vendor tooling; coordinate design, procurement, qualification and deployment.
Manage technical data and repair documentation: review/interpret technical repair manuals, maintain repair data, and communicate technical requirements to stakeholders.
Coordinate industrialization activities between process engineers, production, quality and tooling to align resources and support implementation.
Plan and manage repair industrialization projects using project management tools (e.g., Smartsheets, scheduling tools); estimate and document time for repairs, R&D, tooling and testing.
Conduct testing and evaluation: design and run lab trials, scrap part testing for R&D, validate processes and document results for approval.
Interface with OEMs to request/clarify technical data, obtain approvals for repairs, resolve technical issues and support development of alternate repair sources.
Prepare business case evaluations: perform repair justification analyses (cost/benefit, rejection rates, feasibility) and develop supporting engineering reports/data packages.
Execute FAI and qualification activities: draft routings and FAI plans, coordinate trials, finalize FAI packages and upload approvals to document control systems.
Identify and establish improvement programs through root cause analysis (i.e., repair instructions, proper sequencing, inspection criteria, gauges, fixtures, machines, etc.), analysis of throughput, work in process, non-conformance tags (NCTs), material review board (MRBs), process interruptions, other line stoppages, warranty failure modes, field reliability of repairs, investigation of repair-related field problems, line build problems, and subcontractors' repair performance.
Support equipment acquisition and safety: recommend equipment, establish safety considerations, and monitor equipment safety issues during implementation.
Provide technical support and engineering ownership for various systems, machinery, and process equipment to support effective MRO processes.
Provide technical training and mentoring for repair development and production implementation as required.
Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices or conditions.
Carry out special duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Previous experience in aviation, aerospace, manufacturing or other related industries is preferred.
Practical experience with implementing and maintaining industrial machinery and processes such as CNC machine centers, vacuum furnaces, balance machines, robotic cells, and chemical processes lines.
Experience interpreting and reviewing technical drawings, coordinating various trades, skilled technicians, and contractors.
Working knowledge of gas turbine/accessory design theory, basic machine shop practices, and basic gas turbine metallurgy; familiarity with engine manuals.
Direct experience with the CFM56-7B engine product line is preferred.
Design and drafting skills (CAD). AutoCAD, Auto desk, Inventor, and Fusion 360 are preferred.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
University degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or aerospace engineering.
Must be authorized to work in the US.
