The Project Engineer (PE) role is responsible for executing custom project designs, meeting customer expectations, quality, schedule and budget goals, and ensuring project risks are mitigated. The PE role will work with a cross-functional engineering team and will also lead a project support team through delegation, coordination and support of engineering deliverables.

  • Process design, modeling and engineering (including sub-vendor equipment selection) for municipal biosolids treatment projects
  • Develop and peer review process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mass, heat and energy balances
  • Development of process control strategies including functional descriptions
  • Utilize, update and optimize design tools for biosolids and resource recovery processes
  • Commissioning, start-up, operator training, and process technical support for municipal thermal drying, co-digestion and biogas utilization

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study with at least
  • 5 years of process engineering or related experience
  • Well developed understanding of biosolids treatment technologies and related equipment including: drying, thickening, anaerobic digestion, dewatering, conveyance, air pollution control, etc.
  • Practical experience in application of thermodynamic, heat transfer, and fluid dynamic principles in design of process systems and equipment selection.
  • Periodic travel (20%) to job sites to train operators, perform process startup and commissioning functions, and/or provide assessment of system performance

Additional Information

Compensation - The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $95,210 - $108,000 annually.
