Job Description

Process Engineer in Hornell, NY

At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85,000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.

More Than a Job: A Mission

We are looking for a passionate Process Engineer to design and optimize manufacturing processes that power the next generation of sustainable mobility. You will collaborate with dedicated teams to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety across our production lines, ensuring every component contributes to a reliable and innovative rail system.

Your Role, Your Impact

  • Develop and implement scalable manufacturing processes using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and ensure seamless production transitions.
  • Drive process reliability through root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Innovate by introducing automation and digital tools to enhance production performance.
  • Share knowledge and best practices across teams to strengthen operational excellence.

You'll work with sharp, committed teams solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility, ensuring seamless integration of business and technology.

What You Bring

  • Proficiency in process mapping and optimization using tools like Value Stream Mapping.
  • Experience with industrial automation systems such as PLCs or SCADA.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems including FMEA and SPC.
  • Ability to apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve flow.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making and continuous learning.

How Success Is Measured

  • Achievement of production efficiency and quality improvement targets.
  • Effective collaboration with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams.
  • Reduction in process defects and measurable gains in throughput.

Alstom, A Great Place to Grow

  • Work with cutting-edge manufacturing technologies driving sustainable mobility.
  • Contribute to global projects with tangible local impact.
  • Advance your career through continuous learning and professional development programs.
  • Salary Range: $76,000 - 78,000

Here, progress isn't always easy but the impact is real. Because the scale is massive, the tasks are complex when the system runs, the train moves, and the city connects that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts.
