Job Description

The Injection Molding Junior Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, optimization, and maintenance of injection molding processes. This role assists in troubleshooting production issues, improving cycle times, supporting new product introductions, and ensuring consistent part quality in accordance with company and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in establishing, documenting, and optimizing molding process parameters.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for process and quality issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve cycle times and reduce scrap.
  • Aid in validating new molds, machines, and materials.
  • Monitor and analyze key process indicators (e.g., cycle time, part weight, scrap rates).
  • Support continuous improvement projects and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date process documentation, including work instructions and setup sheets.
  • Participate in tool trials and new product launches.
  • Assist in training machine operators and technicians on proper processing techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Support production as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field or related on the job experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience in injection molding or manufacturing environment (internship/co-op acceptable).
  • Basic understanding of injection molding equipment, tooling, and plastics materials.
  • Familiarity with process troubleshooting techniques and quality standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and process documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and exposure to ERP or manufacturing software.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (noise, temperature variations, standing, lifting up to 30 lbs.).
