Role Purpose

Works with other team members to solve difficult technical, engineering related problems. Supports or leads continuous improvement activities, new product or process introductions and cost reduction projects. Supports drive to fundamental process understanding and lowest cost producer objectives. Supports the development and execution of plans to evaluate new technology or improvements in existing technology resulting in a superior product in terms of quality and/or cost. Understands Corning's Intellectual property management processes and follows that process in documenting any intellectual property developed as part of a project

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day problem solving support to production.
  • Functions as a team member on focused projects in Corning
  • Support process development and optimization efforts
  • Support rebuild and expansion projects with occasional off-shift duty by 30%~40%
  • Provide trouble shoots to process and equipment issues, identifies root cause and corrective actions
  • Supports new technology migration through equipment installation, process optimization and documentations.
  • Assist on data analysis for key decision of process engineering activities (experiment, development, etc.)

Experiences/Education - Required

  • BS above (include) degree and major in engineering (prefer Chemical or Material engineering)
  • > 2 years related working experiences
  • Good English proficiency in writing, listening and speaking and TOEIC 550 is a plus
  • Understand process control concept, and capable of process data analysis.
  • Skills in software of Windows Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power point, etc.
  • Good communication, coordination, and follow-up ability.
  • Report & presentation skills
  • Safety awareness

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Familiarity with AI productivity tools and hands-on experience applying them in work processes
  • Project management skill
  • Experience in implementing DMAIC methodology and leading 6-sigma project.
  • Uses simple statistical tools and Designed Experiments (DOE) in process problem.
  • Sense of urgency and creativity to handle project issues and adapt plan to meet objectives
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing environment; be a change agent to help others through change
