The Business Stream New Food within Tetra Pak Processing Equipment SIA plays a key global role in advancing industrial-scale New Food production technologies. Within the Bioreactors and Fermentation Design team, we are responsible for developing and deploying cutting-edge fermentation solutions that enable our customers to scale next-generation food production.
We are looking for a Process Engineer to support our commercial projects by overseeing the dimensioning, design, and manufacturing of our bioreactor portfolio. In this role, you will apply your engineering expertise to translate customer requirements into robust, scalable solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, and project execution. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of fermentation-based food innovation, contributing directly to the industrialisation of new food technologies while engaging with leading partners across the ecosystem.
The position is permanent, based in Riga, and includes some travelling.
As a process engineer, you will be part of the New Food Business Stream and provide comprehensive process engineering and technical support during the project quotation and implementation phases. You will handle the design specification and dimensioning of process equipment and solutions together with the rest of the team.
Main responsibilities:
• Support quotation activities on inquiries for processing solutions for New Food production and participate in technical discussions with customers.
• Work on the basic engineering documentation such as mass balance, flow diagram, production time schedule in line with Tetra Pak standards, guidelines, tools, and methods for process design.
• Execute drawings in CAD software: P&ID, layouts.
• Drive creation of application knowledge and develop solutions, tools and processes for New Food production to secure productivity.
• Support the dimensioning, design, and commissioning of fermentation solutions, ensuring optimal technical and commercial outcomes
• Work with 3D design software to support system layout and engineering development
• Work with ERP software to support project execution and administration
• Overlook manufacturing and assembly processes, ensuring design intent and quality standards are maintained
• Participate in commissioning and start-up activities at customer sites, providing hands-on technical support
• BSc or MSc degree in Biotechnology-, Chemical-, Food- or Mechanical Engineering, or related fields with a focus on process design and project implementation.
• Proven process engineering design experience, ideally within the bioprocess, dairy, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience from implementing Industrial Bioprocess solutions with focus on fermentation is a strong plus.
• Ability to draw, read, and understand a process and instrumentation diagram (PID). Intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD and drawing platforms is a must.
• At least 2 years of experience in the field, and work experience in the food industry is an advantage.
• Strong communication, planning, and leadership skills, with the ability to solve problems consistently and with a desire to deliver as a team.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
