About SkyNRG & the role

At SkyNRG we’re building something big: a new SAF (sustainable aviation fuel) production plant that will help transform the future of flying. As Process Engineer at our DSL-01 facility in Delfzijl, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to optimize production and ensure operational readiness.

You’ll work closely with our Engineering Manager and collaborate across departments; from maintenance and production to QHSES and laboratory teams, to support the commissioning, startup, and continuous improvement of our SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) plant.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape a new, sustainable operating entity from the ground up. You’ll be involved in everything from developing SOPs and supporting our Operator Training Simulator to troubleshooting process issues and identifying bottlenecks. What you’ll do

Before Startup:

You will support the Plant Manager and Engineering Manager in implementing the Operational Readiness Plan. In collaboration with partners such as T.EN, Bilfinger, and the DSL-01 team, you will align Commissioning & Startup (CSU) plans to ensure seamless execution.

Your role will also involve helping to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Asset Management Plan. Additionally, you will provide technical input for the Operator Training Simulator and assist in setting up the laboratory, as well as supporting the development and implementation of the Asset Management System (AMS).

After Startup:

Following startup, you will support CSU activities, including catalyst loading, ensuring process stability, and maintaining product quality. You will be responsible for troubleshooting process and equipment issues as they arise. A continuous improvement mindset will be essential as you work to enhance safety, optimize feedstock and chemical usage, and improve utilities and energy efficiency.

You will investigate new feedstocks and contribute to the development of the blending model. Keeping feedstock procurement and processing specifications up to date will be part of your ongoing duties. Furthermore, you will identify and resolve process constraints that hinder production efficiency, and you will engineer small modifications while supervising contractors during larger expansion projects.

What you will bring

Must-Haves:

• BSc or MSc in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a running industrial plant
• Willingness to work in Delfzijl on a full-time basis from 2028 (moment of operational readiness), with a commute time to the plant within approximately 1 hour
• Strong Dutch communication skills (verbal and written)

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience in oleochemical, petrochemical, biodiesel, or HVO/SAF industries
• Familiarity with safety and environmental compliance (HAZOP, risk assessments)
• Background in plant commissioning and startup
