Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Keep close contact with Division Engineering and plant partners for timely communication and issue resolution, support the startup, ramp-up and capability setup of new equipment/process.
• Lead fundamental understanding knowledge build about Anti-Reflective/Easy-To-Clean coating process, maintain the stability and consistency of production.
• New technology/improvement development that leading the market and achieve Corning's low-cost/high-quality strategy.
• Develop partnerships with Control/Equipment teams for technology development & fundamental understanding.
• Partner with plant engineering for effective implementation of process or equipment / controls changes.
• Provide higher level engineering support for plant troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Build effective relations and interactions with internal/external customers and stakeholders.
• Daily process capability performance data (FAI, IPQC, SPC, process Cpk/Ppk) monitoring and analysis, and do troubleshooting when performance is below expectation, including materials analysis.
• Lead experiments and performance improvement projects to achieve target goal, including product quality, yield, uptime, lowest cost and capacity.
• Be the technical leader in the plant for coating work with equipment engineers to optimize process/equipment interactions, working with other process areas to identify process interactions.
• Train operators, shift leaders, managers, and other engineers.
• Weekend and shift coverage are requirement as needed.
• Report out the issues with professional data analysis and clear logical process.
• Project management leadership of project with intermediate scope, include but not limited to project planning, resources building, AR initiation, spending control, production scale up and project transferring.
• Write technical Brief and Engineering documents, establish engineering or operational work instructions; develop training materials and provide direction to partner engineers and coach operators.
• Collect customer feedback, corrective action plan providing and quick solve customer complain and report to management team and documentation.

Education & Experience

• BS/MS degree or above in Materials, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience on the position of Coating Process Engineer in manufacturing environment, including 2+ years in multi-national company.
• Experiences in working with and/or supervising project teams.
• Former experience with involvement in earlier stage innovation programs preferred.
• 2+ years supervisory experience preferred.

Required Skills

• PVD coating, spray coating and related thin film deposition process methods.
• Familiar with thin film properties measure methods (Ellipsometer, spectrometer, optical microscope, SEM-EDS, AFM, contact angle...) and organic material chemical analysis (like FTIR, TOF-SIMS).
• Familiar with cover lens reliability test (Abrasion test, solar radiation test, high temperature/high humidity test...).
• Have fundamental understanding about Anti-Reflective/Easy-To-Clean coating process, have the experience of new solvent/solute qualification.
• Have cost reduction, yield improvement, capacity expansion and trouble-shooting experience.
• Used structured problem-solving methods such as DMAIC, KT ,DOE lead problem solving and process improvement.
• Has curiosity, loves to study, and the ability to continuously learn.
• Have coating process modeling experience.
• Have data analysis experience (include but not limited to big data analysis, statistical analysis, MSA, SPC).
