Process Engineer (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Huntsville, AL (Metro Area)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct-Hire


We are seeking a Process Engineer to support and optimize chemical manufacturing operations within a production environment. This role is responsible for providing technical and analytical support to process units, improving operational performance, and ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. The position will work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement and support regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily process unit operations and provide technical support to production teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality, reduce costs, enhance safety, and lower emissions
  • Develop and execute tests to evaluate process changes and optimize performance
  • Troubleshoot production, safety, environmental, and quality issues
  • Support process improvements, equipment performance, and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop operating plans, budgets, and economic evaluations
  • Provide support for regulatory programs including PSM/RMP compliance
  • Assist in the design, selection, and implementation of equipment and process improvements
  • Develop procedures and support training for safe and efficient plant operations
  • Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and operations to maximize uptime and production quality
  • Participate in project planning, execution, and progress reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required
  • 3+ years of experience in process engineering within a chemical or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of process operations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
  • Experience supporting production units and working cross-functionally with operations teams
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, safety standards, and environmental considerations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with distillation processes in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Background supporting PSM/RMP programs
  • Experience working in a plant-based, production-driven environment
