Process Engineer (Chemical Manufacturing)
Location: Huntsville, AL (Metro Area)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct-Hire
We are seeking a Process Engineer to support and optimize chemical manufacturing operations within a production environment. This role is responsible for providing technical and analytical support to process units, improving operational performance, and ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. The position will work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement and support regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor daily process unit operations and provide technical support to production teams
- Identify opportunities to improve quality, reduce costs, enhance safety, and lower emissions
- Develop and execute tests to evaluate process changes and optimize performance
- Troubleshoot production, safety, environmental, and quality issues
- Support process improvements, equipment performance, and operational efficiency initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop operating plans, budgets, and economic evaluations
- Provide support for regulatory programs including PSM/RMP compliance
- Assist in the design, selection, and implementation of equipment and process improvements
- Develop procedures and support training for safe and efficient plant operations
- Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and operations to maximize uptime and production quality
- Participate in project planning, execution, and progress reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required
- 3+ years of experience in process engineering within a chemical or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of process operations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
- Experience supporting production units and working cross-functionally with operations teams
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, safety standards, and environmental considerations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with distillation processes in a chemical manufacturing environment
- Background supporting PSM/RMP programs
- Experience working in a plant-based, production-driven environment
