Job Description

Job Location: LaPorte - LaPorte, IN 46350
A Process Engineer is a hands on technical role focused on improving quality, optimizing manufacturing processes, and driving overall plant efficiency by actively working on the production floor to implement and refine equipment and operations, provide technical support for manufacturing assets, build and document knowledge of physical and chemical process transformations, solve issues using root cause analysis, evaluate engineering solutions through statistical analysis, establish specifications and standards for new processes, and lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing tools.
The role will be based out of La Porte, In and will report to the Senior Manager Process Engineering.
Responsibilities and Key Activities:
Safety
- Support of Safety Programs; Promotes and supports safety awareness through participation in JSA’s, Gemba Walks, 5S programs, etc.
- Participate in audits, investigations, and assessments to ensure safe working conditions for MonoSol employees, contractors and Plant Visitors.
- Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
- Drive and implement Safety Continuous Improvement activities within my role.
Quality
- Support of Quality Assurance Programs working with the Quality Engineers and the site Fast Response Team to address customer complaint issues.
- Using Root Cause Analysis Tools-Fishbone, 5-why, QEWO, etc.-as well as data analysis to determine the RCA of customer or internal issues.
- Support the design and implementation of programs to promote containment and resolution of issues.
- Establish and maintain process controls (PCS) to guarantee product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Document Change Management process and closure follow-up (i.e. PCAs, PTRs, New Part Numbers, etc.)
Productivity:
- Technical Troubleshooting aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues in the production process.
- Engineering standards specifications for the analysis and drafting of specifications and procedures for the manufacturing of MonoSol products.
- Data Collection and Analysis: collect, collate and analyze data using preset tools and software (i.e. Spotfire, Wonderware Historian, etc.) to determine or support various hypotheses concerning issues with the production process.
- Monitor and improve key metrics such as OEE (Run Time, Production Yield, Line Speed), scrap, and overall throughput and capacity improvements.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead and support cross functional collaborations with team members to provide improvements to OEE and capacity.
- Support the Idea Management System by providing feedback and technical expertise.
- Use the ASANA project management tool when a medium to high complexity project is assigned for the implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives including Kaizen, 5S, SMED, and waste/losses of elimination within their scope.

Education and

Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or any other Engineering field (preferred), Associate Degree required.

Experience:  +1 year working as a Process Engineer or equivalent experience
