This position supports process development, scale-up, and experimental work by bridging the gap between chemical formulation and physical system design.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Applied Chemistry / Lab Work

  • Execute chemical reactions, formulations, and process trials in a lab or pilot-scale environment

  • Prepare materials, monitor reactions, and document process conditions and outcomes

  • Adjust formulations and process parameters based on experimental results

  • Maintain safe handling and storage of chemicals in accordance with EHS standards

Equipment Assembly & Mechanical Work

  • Build, assemble, and modify lab and pilot-scale systems including piping, pumps, reactors, and support equipment

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and system layouts

  • Install and connect tubing, valves, fittings, and instrumentation

  • Support setup and teardown of experimental systems and test rigs

Troubleshooting & Process Support

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, process, and system performance issues

  • Work with engineers and chemists to improve equipment functionality and process reliability

  • Assist with integration of basic control systems (temperature, flow, pressure)

  • Perform routine maintenance and ensure equipment readiness

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field OR equivalent hands-on experience

  • Experience performing chemical work in a lab or pilot environment

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience assembling or working on equipment

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, or P&IDs

  • Experience working with piping systems, pumps, valves, or similar industrial components

QUALIFICATIONS – PREFERRED

  • Experience in pilot plant, process development, or manufacturing environments

  • Familiarity with industrial control systems (basic PLCs, sensors, temperature/flow control)

  • Experience with fabrication, tubing, or system build-outs

  • Background in continuous improvement or process optimization

The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:

  • Hands-on, builder mindset—enjoys working with tools and equipment

  • Comfortable switching between chemistry tasks and mechanical work

  • Strong problem-solving skills in both process and physical systems

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on safe and reliable operations
