Job Description

At ING, we’re driven by a simple purpose: to empower people to stay a step ahead in life and in business. As a digital-first bank, we’re always looking for smarter ways to improve how we work—simplifying processes, strengthening controls, and delivering seamless customer experiences.

Our KYC Operations team plays a key role in protecting our customers and ensuring we meet regulatory obligations. It’s a collaborative, fast-moving environment focused on continuous improvement and doing things better every day.

We’re looking for a Process & Control Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of improving end-to-end KYC processes while strengthening the control environment and managing operational risk events through to resolution. You’ll work closely with both local and global stakeholders to uplift processes, embed best practices, and ensure they remain fit for purpose in a changing regulatory landscape. Along the way, you’ll help drive better performance, reduce risk, and contribute to a more efficient and resilient KYC function.

This is a 9 month secondment opportunity that can be based in either Wyong or Sydney.

What you’ll do

  • Lead end-to-end management of operational risk events and issues, from identification through to closure within required timeframes.
  • Analyse, design, and uplift KYC operational processes to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce risk, and improve performance.
  • Partner with local and global stakeholders to align processes with ING’s risk framework and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct control testing and support internal and external audits related to process effectiveness.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support decision-making on process improvements, SLAs, and operational performance.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and key point of contact for process and control initiatives across KYC Operations.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience managing operational risk events or issues end-to-end, ensuring they are logged, tracked, and closed within required timeframes.
  • Ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups, including offshore teams, local SMEs, and risk and compliance partners.
  • Strong understanding of controls and governance, with the ability to ensure the right frameworks are in place when issues arise.
  • Experience in risk, issue, or complaints management within banking or financial services.
  • Confidence coordinating across teams to investigate issues, identify root causes, and drive resolution.
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and build knowledge in KYC and financial crime prevention.

What’s in it for you?

  • Discounted ING Health Insurance
  • An additional Rest Day to support your wellbeing
  • An IMPACT day to volunteer on approved sustainability activity
