To convert this into action, Yara Technology and Projects explores technologies for emission free production of fertilizers based on renewable energy. One of Yara’s strategic goals is to develop tomorrow’s practical and economic production technology for green fertilizer.
The Process Modelling and Control department (PMC) is located in Porsgrunn, and consists of 14 multinational, highly qualified employees. The department is responsible for providing Yara's business with expert knowledge within Process Modelling and Simulation, Process Technology and Process Control & Optimization, including Model Predictive Control.
The new hire will strengthen the area of Model Predictive Control (called APC in Yara) to support and improve existing Yara processes and plants, as well as strategic initiatives on developing future optimization solutions.
This role is preferred placed in Porsgrunn, but can be based in other European location where Yara operates.
• Maintain existing APC (MPC) applications in our global production plants
• Participate and manage new APC (MPC)deployments in our production plants
• Follow up and collaborate with external technology and service providers
• Develop further solutions for plant optimization
• Contributing to building a strong team
Formal competence:
- MSc in chemical engineering, process system engineering, control engineering, cybernetics or similar with preferably more than 5 years of relevant industrial experience.
Key competence areas:
- Process domain knowledge and experience
- Process control and optimization
- Model predictive control
- Plant optimization
- Project management and stakeholder management
Knowledge and/ or experience about the main processes and technologies in the fertilizer chain will be an advantage, so will experience with process modelling and simulation.

- Well organized
- The ability to travel globally. For a full-time employee, 4-6 travels with a duration of 1-2 weeks are expected each year.
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Exposure to and experience with working amongst various cultures is an asset
- Knowledge of multiple languages is an asset
