Process Automation Engineer
Process Science & Technology / Innovation

Your new role

As a Process Automation Engineer at Novo Nordisk you will design, implement and lead control‑system improvements, develop production recipes and functional specifications, and support testing and troubleshooting under real production conditions. Working closely with programmers, production and cross‑functional colleagues, you will ensure GMP‑compliant automation solutions that maintain process consistency and product quality.

Day‑to‑day your tasks will include:

  • Design, implement and lead changes and optimisations to the control system, including initiating and managing Change Controls for modifications.
  • Create production recipes and translate production requirements into Functional Specifications (FS) and other control‑system documentation in line with GMP.
  • Modify, manage and author functional specification documentation for control systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
  • Collaborate with programmers and production teams and take an active role in testing automation solutions under real production conditions.
  • Participate in investigations of deviations (OOS, OOT), support root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting to maintain process consistency and product quality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by applying technical knowledge to enhance automation reliability, performance and documentation practices.

Based in Bohumil, the Process Science & Technology team is part of Innovation and connects development with production. Your skills & qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should:

  • Hold a university degree in a technical, chemical or food‑industry field, or have a high‑school diploma with 5+ years’ experience in automation.
  • Show a strong interest in process automation, attention to detail, logical thinking and solid problem‑solving skills.
  • Be proficient in Czech and English for effective collaboration with local and international colleagues.
  • Be able to comply with production hygiene rules
  • Be willing and able to learn quickly in areas such as chemical/process engineering (fermentation, filtration, CIP, sterilisation) and GMP change/validation processes.
  • Have, or be willing to develop, experience with control systems (DeltaV, Simatic, Unicorn or similar) and be comfortable reading technical documentation such as P&IDs.
