Job Description

Role Purpose

Corning’s Photonics Connectivity Solutions (PCS) business is seeking an experienced engineering leader to establish and scale manufacturing technologies, process capabilities, and equipment platforms for advanced optical connectivity products. This role is responsible for developing assembly processes, equipment strategies, automation roadmaps, metrology solutions, and manufacturing readiness capabilities. Working with global engineering teams, suppliers, contract manufacturers, and equipment vendors will require flexibility and some travel.

  • Own manufacturing process architecture, equipment platform strategy, and factory readiness for scalable production
  • Lead process technology development, process integration, and manufacturing readiness activities for advanced optical connectivity products
  • Define manufacturing strategies, process flows, equipment roadmaps, automation concepts, and metrology requirements
  • Establish assembly, alignment, bonding, curing, test, inspection, and process control capabilities required for product development
  • Lead equipment selection, equipment qualification, and capacity modeling
  • Drive process capability improvement, yield optimization, cycle-time reduction, and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Build and lead a high-performing team covering process engineering, automation engineering, equipment engineering, and metrology engineering
  • Partner with Design, Reliability, Operations, and Customer Interaction teams to ensure product solutions are manufacturable, measurable, reliable, and scalable

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead process development reviews, equipment strategy reviews, and manufacturing readiness assessments
  • Define and manage process qualification plans, equipment acceptance criteria, automation implementation plans, and metrology strategies
  • Drive process optimization, yield improvement, process capability enhancement, and manufacturing risk reduction initiatives
  • Define facility requirements for manufacturing and laboratory equipment and work closely with Facility Manager to execute installation and infrastructure readiness
  • Engage with suppliers, equipment vendors, contract manufacturers, and global Corning teams to accelerate technology deployment and capability development.
  • Support customer demonstrations, prototype builds, and manufacturing technology discussions from a process and equipment perspective

Experiences/Education - Required

  • B.S., M.S. in Engineering, or relevant field
  • 10+ years of experience in process development, manufacturing, automation, equipment engineering, or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience developing and qualifying manufacturing processes for precision assemblies or advanced technology products
  • Experience leading equipment selection, installation, qualification, and production readiness activities
  • Strong understanding of process capability, yield improvement, DOE, and process control methodologies
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams and driving execution across process, equipment, automation, metrology, and operations functions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate product requirements into scalable manufacturing solutions

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Experience in optical assembly, semiconductor packaging, precision automation, or advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Experience with active alignment, passive alignment, bonding, dispensing, curing, vision systems, precision motion systems, automated assembly equipment, or optical test and inspection systems
  • Familiarity with FAU, MLA, PMLA, optical connector, CPO, NPO, and optical interconnect manufacturing processes
