
Problem solving experts in this department will focus on resolving design related failures identified throughout the product’s useful life, beginning with test (Design Verification) failures and continuing through the product’s warranty and lifetime field performance failures.
In addition to demonstrated problem-solving skills and experience, applicants must possess a strong interest in learning and technical development. Applicants will be required to interface with teams that include subject matter experts, allowing for numerous opportunities to expand technical knowledge in a wide area of automotive technologies, features, systems, and components. Workload will consist of prioritizing problems based upon impact on our customers and company and leading cross functional teams through the complete problem-solving process in a robust and timely manner. Projects frequently target high profile products, technology, and launches as well as high profile quality issues within the product development organization. The position requires presentation of status and findings allowing diverse management exposure.
Lead engineering teams in determining root cause(s), robust/verified interim containment actions (ICA), robust/verified permanent containment actions (PCA) and Prevent Recurrence actions (PRAs) for test, launch and post-launch product failures.
Develop/update verification methodologies capable of demonstrating failure rate improvements
Lead the identification and cascade of lessons learned by ensuring product DFMEAs, Design Rules, Test methods and or corporate processes are updated.
Provide the Product Development organization with statistical and problem solving support including assisting with 6-Sigma methodology training.
Deliver project presentations to senior management accomplishments, conclusions, and lessons learned.
Engineering MS degree or higher
Reliability Engineering degree (BS or MS)
Certified 6-Sigma Black Belt/master Black Belt (DMAIC or DFSS)
Experience in a Quality and/or testing Organization
6-Sigma trained. Certification preferred but not required. If not a Certified 6-Sigma Green/Black Belt, evidence must be provided on problem-solving capabilities
Working understanding of Functional requirements, failure mode effects, causes, severity and detection methods (DFMEAs)
Ability to develop clear working level documents and management presentations as well as clear/concise communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage several unique tasks simultaneously.
Ability and willingness to travel to both Ford and supplier domestic and foreign locations.
Electric Vehicle or Software Experience.
