Applicants must meet both the education and experience requirements under one of the following options:
Completion of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university.*
Two (2) years as a Probation Division Director I -AND- two (2) years as Supervising Probation Officer or as a Probation Corrections Supervisor II with San Bernardino County.
Associates Degree or its equivalent in Behavioral Science, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a closely related field of study.
Two (2) years as a Probation Division Director I -AND- four (4) years as Supervising Probation Officer or as a Probation Corrections Supervisor II with San Bernardino County.
Option 3Graduation from a U.S. high School, G.E.D. or a U.S. Department of Education approved High School Equivalency Test - AND- completed San Bernardino MLA or CPOC/MLA Training
Two (2) years as a Probation Division Director I -AND- Six (6) years as a Supervising Probation Officer or as a Probation Corrections Supervisor II with San Bernardino County.
Experience Substitution: Eighteen (18) additional months of experience as a SPO or PCSII may substitute up to one (1) year of Division Director I experience.

*Degrees must be accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of current departmental policies and procedures and demonstrate sound judgment in applying appropriate methods and practices.
Examination Procedure:
There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on the information provided in the Application and the Supplemental Questionnaire. You are encouraged to include detailed descriptions of your qualifying experience and skills, as only the most highly qualified applicants will be referred to the Department.
